    Thanks a lot for reporting the problem. I must frankly admit that I did not test the plugin on a Mac (simply because I don’t have one). I only checked it on IE and Firefox on Linux and Windows.

    About the button that does not appear: I noticed the height of the upload iframe is sometimes too short, which causes the submit button to be hidden, but it these cases, I always had a vertical scroll bar, which would allow me to access the button. You didn’t have a scrollbar on the iframe?

    About the deactivation not working, I never observed such a phenomenon. In fact, when you deactivate a plugin, the .php file is not read by WordPress anymore (it is pretty much like if the file would be removed), so I really don’t understand how the plugin could work after being deactivated. A browser caching problem? What happens when you completely reload the page?

    If you give me more info, I might try to look into this, but since I cannot reproduce the problem I won’t be of great help.

    I found out the cause of this behavior (the plugin was developed on 2.0.4 and later ported for 2.0.6 but it happens not to be backward compatible). I am planning to release an updated version of the plugin which supports older WP 2.0.x versions as well.

    I’m not a programmer but I guess it shouldn’t be too hard to made one version of the script in which you can choose between Lightbox, Thickbox or Greybox. Maybe a feature for a next version?

    Yes, for watermarking to work, you need the “composite” utility (part of ImageMagick package) installed on your server.

    The plugin assumes this utility is located in the /usr/bin directory on the server. If it is located elsewhere, you can update the FUP_COMPOSITE_PATH option in flexible-upload.php.

    First of all, could you check the directory where the plugin is installed. It should be in wp-content/plugins/flexible-upload/ (you should not copy the files directly under wp-content/plugins/

    If this point is ok, it would be nice if you could check (1) the apache error_log on your web server (if you have access to it) and (2) the Javascript console (it is accessible directly in Firefox).

    To fix your design, here’s what I propose you: edit the style.css file in the wp-content/themes/mistylook-101/ directory and add the following line:

    .imageframe { padding:0px 20px 0px 10px; }

    This should give you a bit more space on the right of your pictures.

    You need to resize the iframe so that it is large enough to hold the whole content. I am working on a proper fix in Javascript (using the resizeIFrame() function), but I think the easiest for the time being would be to edit wp-admin/wp-admin.css and change the height of the #uploading element (see line 213) from 18em to whatever is large enough for you (say 25em).

    There is definitely a problem with the Send to Editor button. I read a lot of the comments regarding this issue and I found that for some reason it’s not visible and the scrollbar in the iframe doesn’t move at all to see it. From the Browse All frame I alt-clicked on one of the images to open the linked address into it’s own new window and then the Send to Editor button becomes visible. It’s just too bad there is now nothing to link back to for proper use. The only way I can use this plugin is to upload an image, attach all the properties to it, deacitvate the plugin, go back to the uploader and upload it w/out the plugin. The attributes stay with the image… hm. Such a wonderful tool but kind of a pain with that little bug. Still beats resizing a ton elsewhere.

     Can I add my vote to GB’s suggestion to support Highslide please? I prefer highslide because if you are showing an image that is bigger than the browser window then it scales it down to fit in the window (with the option to expand to full size if you want).

     I did take a look at the source and it wasn’t obvious to me – I felt like I’d have to make a lot of changes in lots of places (but that might just be my limited understanding). If I can help you solve this then please ask.

Site looks great, BUT if I EDIT an existing post, when I press “Browse” I do see the thumbs from that post. So far, so good, but when I click on one of those thumbnails, instead of seeing the small thumbnail with various radio buttons, etc., the LARGE picture appears. Is there a relatively easy way to fix this?

     That should give you fairly good results. You may want to add more sharpening to the initial “presharpening” phase and then reduce it a bit on the post-sharpening phase. I have found from experience that it’s better to do a little sharpening before you scale the image, then do a little once it’s scaled. Also, highly scaled images seem to retain more detail if you scale them in multiple steps and never scale more than 50% in a single pass. I wonder if that might be incorporated into a future generation of this plugin. Just a thought.

     This happened because the “memory limit” set in php.ini was only 8M. The way I found to fix it was adding a .htaccess file to the WordPress directory with just this line on it:

     php_value memory_limit 64M

     I read somewhere that 64M would be a good value, and, well, i’ts all working now.

     To check if the memory limit has changed, put a PHPInfo file on your WordPress directory (http://www.hostingmanual.net/other/php.shtml), run it and look for “memory_limit”. The “master” value should still be 8MB, the “local” value (left column) should have changed.

I recently upgraded WordPress to 2.3.2, and everything works fine except that flexible-upload doesn’t seem to make the thumbnail sizes what I specify them to be. Instead I get the default 128px. I tried turning off all my plugins, then just turning the flexible-upload plugin on, and that did not help. Then I tried a completely fresh install of wordpress and flexible-upload, and it seemed to work. I started turning plugins back on, and it still worked. But then when I switched to my theme (a custom theme I wrote), it no longer resizes the thumbnails.

     I am very confused why my theme should interact with flexible-upload at all. I started poking around the code a bit, and saw a javascript function “addLoadEvent”, which I also use in my theme. I thought that might be the problem, so I commented that out, but it did not help. Any advice would be very appreciative. I have tested versions 1.5 and 1.9 of flexible-upload, and I get the same error with each. I did not have any problem when I was running wordpress 2.1 however.

If you do this, you should know that there are many other places in the database where the localhost references will need to be replaced by your online domain name. Uploaded images are not an exception.

     For me, it’s the ability to resize the images on a per-post basis (I don’t need th ability to change each image, eg: all images on this post are 200px wide). I also use the “link image to” feature. For example, I want all my thumbnails to link to the original size file.

     The important feature of WP 2.5 to keep is the multiple file upload feature, the rest of it is not as important as the ability to resize images per post.

     All of the features Flexible Upload currently has would be a great addition to WP2.5. I use the watermark feature the most, and the auto image resizing next.. Really is an essential plugin to have, I havent upgraded any of my WP Blogs to 2.5 yet – waiting on this plugin to be compatable!!

     – possibility to incrust watermark after upload, before insertion in post

     You could take a look at POEdit, it’s a multi-platform PO editor. Otherwise, just copy flexible-upload.pot to it_IT.po and pt_PT.po, respectively, and edit them with the text editor of your choice. Then, I’ll generate the .mo files and include them in the plugin.
